Dissident Chorus | Featuring Suki Seokyeong Kang and Minouk Lim

Tina Kim Gallery is pleased to announce the inclusion of Suki Seokyeong Kang and Minouk Lim in the 2026 Busan Biennale: Dissident Chorus. The 2026 Busan Biennale will span multiple venues—from the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art to the Former Busan Nam High School—and will include over 50 artists from 23 countries. This year’s theme arises from the premise that sound, like water, resists containment, erodes borders, and carries memory without permission. Dissident Chorus examines relationships between the sea, bodies, and embodied and sonic practices as tools for healing and resistance. 

 

Suki Seokyeong Kang’s (1977-2025) multidisciplinary practice explored the relationship between space, time, and the individual through sculpture, installation, painting, video, and performance. Drawing on traditional Korean forms and materials, her works reflect on movement, human presence, and collective consciousness. 

 

Minouk Lim extends personal experience and historic trauma into broader social contexts through poetic narratives spanning writing, video, installation, and performance. Rooted in the politics of language and expression, her practice uncovers the hidden voices and places silenced by modernization—testifying on behalf of the invisible to cast collective grief into generative, hopeful forms.

 

The Busan Biennale will run from August 29, 2026–November 1, 2026.
