Forthcoming | Suki Seokyeong Kang: Mountain—Hour—Face: McNay Art Museum, San Antonio
Suki Seokyeong Kang: Mountain—Hour—Face opens at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, TX, on October 30, 2026.
Exhibited last year at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, the exhibition has been adapted for the McNay and will transform the galleries into an immersive environment shaped by rhythm and the natural world. The exhibition features nearly 40 works by the late South Korean artist and span sculpture, painting, textiles, installation, video, and poetry in a sweeping look at Kang’s multidisciplinary practice.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors will encounter some of Kang’s most celebrated bodies of work. Works on view will encompass Kang’s Mountain—hours series, delicate aluminum mobiles that move slowly in response to air currents in the space; Tender Meander sculptures evoking human figures through abstract forms; and much more. Visitors move through the exhibition much as they might move through a landscape, discovering shifting perspectives, unexpected encounters and moments of reflection.
“One of the most captivating aspects of Suki Seokyeong Kang’s work is the way she draws from Korean traditions of painting, dance and craft to create environments that invite reflection and discovery,” said McNay’s curator of exhibitions Lauren Thompson. “I hope audiences leave with a deeper appreciation for the beauty of her work and the connections it inspires.”
Suki Seokyeong Kang: Mountain—Hour—Face is organized by Miranda Lash, Ellen Bruss chief curator, and Leilani Lynch, curator, for the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. The McNay’s presentation is overseen by Lauren Thompson, curator of exhibitions at McNay Art Museum.
