Working primarily in oil, she builds compositions drawn from personal and collective archives through an intuitive process of layering. Images accumulate only to be intentionally obscured, fragmented, and destabilized. What we see in the resulting paintings is not the memory of a whole, but the continuous production of possible wholes.
Kim earned her BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is currently based in New Haven, CT, where she is pursuing her MFA in Painting and Printmaking at Yale University.
