SeMA, Buk-Seoul Museum of Art invites leading artists to arrange children’s exhibitions that introduce contemporary art in an easy and entertaining way. The thirteenth such exhibition involves Suki Seokyeong Kang, an artist who references tradition and creates works that consider the individual’s place in society.
In Square See Triangle, viewers are prompted to consider the question as it relates to tradition, creating their own stories through what they can see from their own positions. Through the shape of a square, Kang sees the tradition she interprets and the present she occupies through the language of art. The artist anticipates that everyone will be able to communicate with one another on the triangular stage installed in the exhibition.
The exhibition offers a workbook and catalogue presented in a storybook format to help children’s understanding of the exhibition and artworks, hoping to produce a new educational model and knowledge by transforming critical elements of the exhibition into educational material.
Square See Triangle encourages the audience to put their own ideas inside the square frame of art and to raise a triangular dialogue between the artwork, the audience, and others.
