Space Elevator featuring Mire Lee

March 28–30 | MMCA Korea
The MMCA Performing Arts 2024: Space Elevator is a year-long project at the MMCA Seoul Multi-Project Hall, running from May 2024 to April 2025. It features monthly programs exploring diverse imaginations and perspectives on outer space, conceived as an alternate reality.

A highlight of the program is Mire Lee’s work, tentatively titled Lying Things: Ophelia, scheduled for March 28 to March 30, 2025. Lee's kinetic sculptures utilize materials such as silicone tubes, plaster, and tissue to evoke themes of vitality, decay, and the intertwined nature of control and care, transforming the gallery into a dynamic theater of existence.

Lee's recent acclaimed exhibitions include the Hyundai Commission at Tate Modern, Black Sun at the New Museum, and participation in the 59th Venice Biennale. Her innovative approach continues to redefine contemporary sculpture by merging tactile materiality with performative space.
