MISTYGRAPHY SERIES
Kibong Rhee's Mistygraphy series invites viewers to immerse themselves in a vast, fog-shrouded world where time seems to stand still. The layers of mist enveloping the scene both reveal and obscure, creating an air of mystery and contemplation. As with much of Rhee’s work, the painting captures the impermanence of existence—objects seem to hover in a state of transition, either materializing or vanishing into the void.
Through his signature technique of layering transparent fabric over his canvases, Rhee adds depth and a sense of ethereality to his depiction of trees bathed in mist. The work evokes the continuous passage of time, where stillness and motion coexist. Rhee’s landscapes offer a moment of quiet reflection, allowing us to meditate on the transient nature of life and the delicate balance between presence and absence.
