Ewha Womans University has received a landmark donation of around 400 works by late artist Suki Seokyeong Kang. The scale of the bequest is unprecedented for Ewha, and is set to shape the future of artistic research and education at the university where she both studied and later taught.

Kang, who passed away in April at the age of 48, was celebrated for developing a singular and experimental visual language across painting, sculpture, installation, and performance. Works such as Jeong, Mat, and Mora remain touchstones, blending philosophical inquiry with a finely attuned sense of the individual’s place in society.

The university has announced the formation of a dedicated committee to oversee the preservation and study of the collection, which spans the breadth of Kang’s practice across media and periods. Plans are also underway for future exhibitions and academic symposia, underscoring Kang’s enduring influence as both an artist and an educator.
