Minouk Lim Hyper Yellow: Ilmin Museum of Art
For the first time in a decade, a solo exhibition by Minouk Lim hosted by an art museum in Korea. The exhibition begins with a fictional map of the Yellow Sea, reimagined within a post-nuclear landscape and features new works that fluidly traverse the boundaries of past and present as well as those of the individual and the collective. Lim suggests a new concept of “Hyper Yellow” to reach an imaginary threshold that transcends racial or cultural prejudices and the desire for salvation surrounding the Yellow Sea. Her works delve into an eclectic range of subjects, from cities and rivers to tourists and the Eleven-Headed Kannon, weaving in the local cultures that carry forward memories and histories.
