Black Mountain (1986) is a Portuguese Black Granite sculpture made by Minoru Niizuma. The year 1986 marks an important shift in Niizuma's life, as he began working with the Portuguese President Mario Soares to promote artistic exchange between Portugal and Japan. This work was included in a groundbreaking solo exhibition of Niizuma's work during the same year in Lisbon, Portugal at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum. The sculpture was also exhibited in "The Unseen Professors," a group exhibition at Tina Kim Gallery in New York (2021) and at the Art Point Gallery in Tokyo, Japan (1986).
