Tina Kim Gallery is pleased to announce its inaugural independent presentation at the 2019 iteration of Art Basel Miami Beach. For the fair, the gallery will present a selection of works by its diverse and international roster of artists including Minouk Lim, Suki Seokyeong Kang, Kim Yong-Ik, Davide Balliano, and Wook-Kyung Choi alongside paintings by celebrated Dansaekhwa artists such as Ha Chong-Hyun, Chung Sang- Hwa, Park Seo-Bo—as well as three recent additions to our program, Suh Seung-Won, Kim Tschang-Yeul, and Lee Seung-Jio.
Since its founding in 2001, Tina Kim Gallery has established a reputation for staging scholarly historical shows along with cutting-edge exhibitions by emerging contemporary artists. The gallery’s program boats a cross-generational and multi-disciplinary range of artists with a strong focus on the Korean art historical canon. Furthermore, Tina Kim Gallery has fostered international recognition for the Dansaekhwa painting movement. Over the past several years, the gallery has staged a number of important academic shows by Dansaekhwa artists including Ha Chong-Hyun and Park Seo-Bo. In 2019, the gallery mounted thoughtful and critically acclaimed exhibitions of works by Suh Seung- Won and Kim Tschang-Yeul in an effort to broaden the understood boundaries of post- war Korean painting.
Artists from Tina Kim Gallery’s program have been featured in a broad array of international biennials and triennials, including the Venice Biennale, the Gwangju Biennale, the Aichi Triennale, the Lyon Biennale, the Liverpool Biennial, and the forthcoming Asian Art Triennial to be mounted in conjunction with New York’s Asia Society. The gallery has participated in select prestigious international and domestic art fairs including TEFAF Maastricht, TEFAF Spring, Frieze New York, Frieze Masters, EXPO Chicago, and ZONA MACO. The gallery works very closely with museums and publishers in order to support our artists. The gallery has prepared a selection of important historical works with newly commissioned works by our distinctive roster of artists for this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach edition.
