Vista mientras esperas la lluvia / View while waiting for the rain is part of Córdova's Contour series, in which she draws a specific window or doorway that is familiar to her from memory into sand and then pours bronze into the indented lines she has created. The bronze spreads through the lines and takes on paths of its own, evoking the artist's ideas around temporality, simultaneity, and narrative. During the recent global pandemic, this series took on new meanings. In isolation in her studio, Cordova's view from her window became like a static image, and the Contour pieces became outlines of the view from which the artist was unable to escape. Córdova's work seeks to expand her objects beyond their existence in the present moment, through the use of these symbolic materials and forms.
