Wall-mounted Ceramic Sculpture evokes skeletal forms--reminiscent of an eye socket or hip joint--conjuring a sense of haunting vulnerability. Emblematic of the artist’s continued study of and engagement with the corporeal form, this work was inspired by the visual culture of “vore.” Vorarephilia is a fetish for the consumption of swallowing another person as an expression of extreme affection or desire for closeness. Like bones laid bare, with no protection, Lee’s sculptures contain a surprising intimacy and beauty.
