Waterfall in Autumn Wind (1975) is a sculpture made of Vermont white marble by Minoru Niizuma. The sculpture features an oblong curve, which creates a dynamic disruption in the sculpture’s otherwise vertical orientation. Waterfall in Autumn Wind was exhibited in the 2nd Sekigahara Stone Sculpture Symposium: Fortress of the Eye in 1994. Starting in 1971, Niizuma frequently organized and participated in these “stone symposiums” across the United States, Europe, and Japan. The artist and other participants were drawn to various locations, including Vermont, Portugal, Ireland, and Austria, because of their local marble and granite quarries.
