Tina Kim Gallery is pleased to announce our participation in FOG Design+Art. For the 2023 edition, we will showcase a curated selection of recent and historical paintings and sculptures by contemporary luminaries Kwon Young-Woo, Ha Chong-Hyun, Park Seo-Bo, Kim Tschang-Yeul, Minoru Niizuma, Lee Ufan and internationally acclaimed artists Pacita Abad, Tania Pérez Córdova, Suki Seokyeong Kang and Kibong Rhee.
A large-scale trapunto by the Filipina-American artist Pacita Abad (1946–2004) will be on view in the booth. Inspired by oriental brush painting during a trip to Korea in 1983, Abad transformed the traditional emphasis on line into a complex and colorful vocabulary via her formally distinctive trapunto paintings in the Asian Abstraction series. Abad is the subject of a major traveling retrospective, opening at the Walker Art Center, MN in April 2023; the exhibition will travel to SFMOMA, CA in October. Other highlights include a recent ceramic work from the celebrated Ecriture series by the Dansaekwha master Park Seo-Bo, and a new work from Ha Chong-Hyun’s hallmark Conjunction series.
Among the other featured artists, Tania Pérez Córdova is the subject of an ongoing solo exhibition at Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, on view through February 26, 2023.
